Abstract: Pingyao Ancient City is an outstanding architectural achievement in ancient China. It is a cultural and geographical heritage bearing the history and development civilization of the Chinese nation. In the face of the imbalance of development, the loss of style and the imbalance of “texture” in the protection and development of the ancient city, this paper studies the belief buildings in the surrounding areas of the main building area or the residential environment in the ancient city layout, and the archives formed according to the actual investigation. Conduct multi-dimensional analysis research to explore its original cultural value, and propose a method to activate the ancient city belief building space and implement the activation strategy to promote the upgrading and protection of the ancient city. In order to develop the "local manufacturing" of the ancient city, we will comprehensively promote the sustainable development and development from the perspective of the internationalization of the ancient city.
